Explanation About Our Animated Files
Our animated overlay files & welcome screens are currently exported in HEVC with Alpha (H.265 + Alpha) format.
This format is highly efficient and supports transparency while keeping the file size small. It’s ideal for most 360 booth and photo booth applications because:
- Transparency is preserved without using green/black backgrounds
- Smaller file sizes with excellent video quality
- Compatible with iOS-based apps like Touchpix, LumaBooth, Snappic, and Curator
This format and found it works great across the platforms we support. HEVC with Alpha is currently the best balance of quality, size, and compatibility.
Notes on Unsupported Software
- DSLRBooth is no longer supported on Mac, instead Mac users should use LumaBooth. The Windows version of DSLR Booth allows animated overlays but only accepts .webm format and is limited to landscape orientation, there’s currently no option to change it. As so, our animated overlays
- Darkroom Booth doesn’t yet support animated overlays, only static PNG overlays or .XBDR templates
